Customer Reviews in the Simply Bread App
Customer reviews are a highly requested feature that helps bakeries build trust and credibility with new customers. This guide explains exactly how the review system works, what to expect, and how bakers can manage reviews effectively.
How Customer Reviews Work
Customer reviews on Simply Bread are designed to be fair, authentic, and trustworthy — more like Airbnb reviews than Google reviews.
That means only verified customers who have actually placed an order with your bakery can leave a review. Reviews are tied to the order itself, not just to your bakery as a one-time business review.
This ensures every review comes from someone who truly experienced your products.
When Customers Can Leave Reviews
To make sure customers have time to taste what they ordered before leaving feedback, the review option becomes available 24 hours after the pickup window ends.

If your bake day has multiple pickup locations with different end times, the latest pickup window end time is used to determine when the review period opens.

Once the 24-hour delay has passed, the customer can then leave their review.
How Customers Leave Reviews
There are several ways customers can submit a review once it becomes available:

Via Text Message
24 hours after the pickup window ends, customers automatically receive a text message asking them to leave a review.-
The message includes a link that takes them directly to the review page for their order.

To avoid spamming customers, the system will not send review text messages to anyone who has already left a review in the past.
Bakers who prefer not to send automated review requests can disable these texts by turning off the toggle located on the Reviews page in the More tab.

From the Order Confirmation Page
When the review period opens, customers can return to their order confirmation page and will see a prompt at the top inviting them to leave a review. -
While Placing a New Order
If a returning customer places another order and has not yet left a review for a previous one, a prompt will be displayed on their new order confirmation page, asking them to leave a review for their previous order.
Can Reviews Be Turned Off?
No. Reviews are an essential part of maintaining transparency, quality, and trust on the Simply Bread App.
Customers discovering your bakery rely on reviews to feel confident that they’re ordering from a legitimate, high-quality source.
Managing Reviews as a Baker
When a customer submits a review, it appears in your Reviews page with the status “Awaiting approval.”

You have 14 days to review and approve it.

After 14 days, if no action is taken, the review is automatically approved.
If you believe a review is unfair or inappropriate, you can click Dispute.
You’ll need to provide a reason, and Simply Bread will review the case and contact you with our decision. Each dispute is handled manually to ensure fairness for both bakers and customers.
While a review is awaiting approval, only you can see it — it won’t appear on your public storefront until it’s approved or auto-approved.
When a review is submitted, you’ll also receive a text message notification letting you know that new feedback has been received and is awaits your approval.
What Customers See
When leaving a review, customers are shown a branded review page featuring your bakery’s name, logo, and colors — so they know exactly which bakery they’re reviewing.
Each review consists of:

A star rating for the overall order

An optional written description of their experience
(Upcoming updates will add per-product ratings and the ability to include photos.)
Once approved, reviews appear on your bakery’s storefront home page:

A star rating shows your overall average rating.

Clicking the rating opens a full page displaying all reviews and details.

Reviews display the customer’s first name and last initial publicly.
Customers cannot edit or delete reviews after submission.
