Can I Sell Products Outside of a Bake Day?

Understanding How Products Are Sold in the Simply Bread App

Can I create a product that is available for sale at all times — without attaching it to a bake day?

The short answer: Not at this time.

Here’s why.

How the Simply Bread App Works Today

The Simply Bread App is built around a bake day event model.

All online storefront sales are tied to a bake day. That means:

  • Products are added to a specific bake day

  • Inventory is managed within that bake day

  • Customers place orders for that event

  • Production, fulfillment, and reporting are all organized around that bake day

This structure keeps ordering clear, production predictable, and inventory controlled.

What About “Always Available” or Shelf-Stable Products?

We understand the use case.

Many bakers sell items that don’t need to be tied to a specific production day, such as:

  • Farm-raised eggs

  • Merch (shirts, hats, etc.)

  • Cutting boards or bread knives

  • Shelf-stable packaged goods (flour etc.)

These are products you may want available for purchase at all times on your online storefront — not just during a bake day.

At this time, the Simply Bread App does not support selling products online outside of a bake day.

Is There a Workaround?

If you are selling in person (farmers markets, storefront, etc.), you can always sell products through the built-in POS system, even if there is no active bake day.

However, for online storefront purchases, products must currently be attached to a bake day.

Coming Soon: Selling Outside of a Bake Day

We are actively exploring and working on a feature that will allow bakers to sell certain products outside of a bake day directly on their online storefront.

The goal is to support shelf-stable items, merch, and other "always available" products — while still maintaining clarity in inventory and order management.

This feature is on our roadmap, and we’re carefully designing the user experience to make sure it works seamlessly within the bake day system.
