Understanding the Automated Messaging System in the Simply Bread App

The Simply Bread App sends two types of messages to customers:

1. Marketing Messages (only sent to subscribed customers)

These messages promote bake days and help drive orders. Only customers who have opted in to receive marketing messages will get these.

Bake Day Announcement

Sent to subscribed customers to announce a new bake day. Bakers choose when this message goes out.

Text message format:
Sat, Apr 5 New Bake Day @ Crumb & Co Bakery! Order here: https://s.simply-bread.co/ABC123

Cutoff Reminder

Reminds subscribed customers to place orders before the cutoff. Customers who already ordered will not receive this message. Bakers can choose the time this reminder goes out.

Text message format:
Crumb & Co Bakery's bake day is closing on Thu, Apr 4 at 8pm! Get your orders in now: https://s.simply-bread.co/ABC123

📝 Note: Both of these marketing messages are optional, and bakers can choose not to schedule them. Currently, bakers cannot customize the text, but that feature is coming soon.

2. Transactional Messages (sent after a customer places an order)

These messages go out to customers after they place an order, and only to those customers.

Order Confirmation Message

Sent immediately after an order is placed, with a link to the customer’s order confirmation page.

Text message format:
Thank you for your order! Your order will be ready for pickup on Sat, Apr 5 between 10:00am and 1:00pm. https://s.simply-bread.co/ABC123

Pickup Reminder

Bakers can schedule up to two pickup reminders to go out at any time. Only sent to customers with orders.

Text message format:
Don't forget to pickup your order! Sat, Apr 5 from 10:00am - 1:00pm at: 123 Main St, Santa Ana, California, 92705

📝 Note: Order confirmation messages are NOT optional but pickup reminder messages are optional. Currently, bakers cannot customize the text, but that feature is coming soon.

📧 What About Emails?

All text messages have email counterparts that provide the same info — and more.

  • Marketing Messages:
If a customer has an email on file and has opted in to marketing emails, they will also receive email versions of the bake day announcement and cutoff reminder. These emails are more detailed and include things like photos of the products available for that bake day.

  • Transactional Messages:
If a customer uses an email to place their order, they will also receive the order confirmation and pickup reminders by email. These emails give more detailed order info, including producs ordered, pickup instructions, and more.
