My Door Seal is Worn

The door seal is a consumable part and will need to be replaced over time.

Over time, your oven's door seal may become discolored, stiff, or lose its original shape. This is a normal part of wear and tear, as exposure to steam, oils, and general baking debris gradually affects the seal. The lifespan of your door seal will vary depending on how frequently you use your oven.

To maximize the life of your oven’s door seal, you can remove it from the frame and periodically soak it in hot water to help break down any baked-in debris. After soaking, gently rub out as much debris as possible, rinse the seal with warm water, and allow it to fully air dry before reinstalling it. Ensuring the seal is completely dry before reattaching it will help maintain proper oven performance.

Some signs that indicate it's time to replace your door seal include:

  • The seal no longer retains its original sponginess or spring. Instead of looking puffy, it appears flat when the oven is open.
  • The seal feels physically stiff to the touch.
  • The male and female ends of the seal no longer stay securely connected.
  • When the oven door is closed, there is a visible gap where heat, light, or excess steam escapes.

If you notice any of these signs, it's time to replace your door seal to maintain proper insulation and baking performance.
